Portfolio Projects

Gazetteer

The Gazetteer project was designed as a responsive web application, which will provide detail information about countries selected by user. When a particular country is selected on the navigation bar, and clicking on either Currency, Weather, News, Covid, and Sport@ a Glance. It will display a profiling information about the country selected. This project uses Application Programming Interfaces (or API), to integrate third-party features such as, a geolocation tool, to display map, location, demographic, etc. It identifies and returns information about the client’s geographical location, connect to client system and exchange data between server-side. In addition, with the help of AJAX technique, it incorporates a client-side script and communicate with a web server. On the map viewport (background), a marker identifies a location, the polygon represents the shape and location of different types of data usually homogenous data such as a lake, a city block, or a patch of vegetation and a circle identifies a change in elevation. In the end, the system will automatically identify the current location of the device (any type) and the country that the user currently resides with the help of JavaScript window navigation command. Company Directory

The company directory project was designed as an employee management system (responsive web application) that has to do with company staff, departments and locations using a relational database (MySQL). The system requires to Add, Retrieve, Update, and Delete employee of an organisation as well as their individual department and the year of employment will be catered for. Analytics around employees and their respective department will as well be shown. By so doing, the company will know the department that are over staffed and the one that are understaffed. Also, there will be need to know information about an employee with their salary and years that they have been with the company as this will enable me to know the current year of an employee. Upon arrival of the data, it will enhance my decision on the application development. I will introduce $http (angular JS) to make asynchronous call/data presentation directly in the DOM for easy presentation of the data to the user. View Project

Task

This task was designed with an HTML application with a table of other APIs. The technique/methodology described here loaded data dynamically on the web page without loading a new page, hence asynchronous. The middle column, API description included user inputs for the parameters required by each API. This interface was designed to consume an endpoint of an Application Programming Interface from another server by creating an interface index.html file by linking it to a Javascript file ensuring that jQuery is been enabled on the website. The JS file makes a request to the PHP file (which consist of 3 APIs from GeoNames Webservices such as earthquakes, oceans, and weather) which is the server file and from the server file it makes another call to the endpoint and returns the response to that PHP file so the PHP file returns the script dot JS file and thereafter populate to the index.html file.
